The short version
Dostii works because strangers here talk to each other like they would to a neighbour. These guidelines exist to keep it that way. They apply to voice, video, text, profile photos, display names, room names and gifts.
If something you are about to do would make you uncomfortable if your sister or your colleague heard it, do not do it here.
Never allowed
Anything involving a minor. Sexual content involving anyone under 18, attempts to contact or groom a minor, or sharing material of that kind results in an immediate permanent ban, forfeiture of coins, and a report to the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal and law enforcement. There is no appeal.
- Nudity, sexual acts, sexual exposure on camera, or sexual talk directed at someone who has not invited it.
- Soliciting or offering sex, escort services or paid companionship.
- Sharing, recording or threatening to share someone's intimate images, calls or screenshots.
- Threats of violence, stalking, or repeated contact after someone has blocked or declined you.
- Abuse based on gender, caste, religion, region, language, disability, or sexual orientation.
- Encouraging self-harm or suicide.
- Asking users for money, loans, UPI transfers, OTPs or bank details, or promoting investment, betting, loan or job scams.
- Selling or advertising anything, including other apps and social handles, for commercial gain.
- Impersonating another person, or using someone else's photo or voice.
What good looks like
- Say hello before you launch into a question. Rooms are conversations, not queues.
- Take no for an answer the first time. If someone declines a private call, move on.
- Keep a room's language. If a room is marked Tamil, speak Tamil or join another one.
- Let quieter people speak. Hosts can mute someone who is monopolising the mic.
- Keep personal details personal — yours and other people's.
Extra rules for hosts
Hosts set the tone of a room and earn from it, so more is expected of them.
- Moderate your own room. Mute or remove users who break these guidelines, and report serious cases.
- Do not pressure listeners into sending gifts, and never promise private favours in exchange for them.
- Do not run gift-farming arrangements, fake accounts or coin-exchange schemes. Payouts are withheld and accounts banned when we detect this.
- Room names and descriptions must be accurate and free of sexual or misleading wording.
Protecting yourself
- Never share your OTP, bank details, UPI ID, Aadhaar or home address. No Dostii employee will ever ask for them.
- Be careful about moving to WhatsApp or Instagram early. On Dostii we can act on a report; elsewhere we cannot.
- If you choose to meet someone offline, meet in public, tell a friend where you are going, and arrange your own transport.
- Block first, then report. Blocking is instant and the other person is not told.
Reporting and what happens next
Report from the call screen, the room menu or any profile. Tell us what happened and, if you can, when — it helps us find the right segment of the call.

Reports are reviewed by a human before a permanent ban. We aim to act within one hour on safety reports and within 24 hours on everything else. Filing knowingly false reports is itself a breach.
To appeal a decision, write to info@dostii.app within 30 days with your registered number. The same address reaches our safety team.
